On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the Edmonton Reggae Festival Society proudly hosted Still, We Rise—a powerful celebration of culture, resilience, and reggae music. Held at the Jamaica Association of Northern Alberta (J.A.N.A.), the event featured high-energy performances from the talented Nigy Boy and crowd-favourite DJ Johnny Kool, drawing a diverse audience from across the region.
The event was part of the society’s ongoing mission to promote reggae music and Caribbean culture in Edmonton, marking an inspiring moment in our 2025 festival season. From the pulsating rhythms to the delicious Caribbean food vendors and the strong sense of community, the day was filled with unforgettable vibes.
Despite weather conditions later in the evening that limited some scheduled performances, the spirit of unity and celebration never wavered. Nigy Boy’s performance was a standout moment, energizing the crowd and leaving a lasting impression on all in attendance.
We thank everyone who came out to support, connect, and rise with us. The success of Still, We Rise reminds us of the power of music to bring people together—even when nature throws us a curveball.🔥🎤

The Edmonton Reggae Festival Society, in collaboration with the Melisizewe Family, will host a film presentation on poverty, immigration, and generational trauma. The film explores the impacts of these issues and why migration occurs. The event aims to raise awareness of systemic racism in immigration and government systems, with the goal of advocating for policy changes to support Black and immigrant communities.
